Choose the inhabitants of the tank carefully in order to have a successful aquarium. There are many fishes available in an aquarium store. However, you must be familiar with all its requirements before you buy the fish. Observe carefully all the things that are available in an aquarium store. Most of these store owners do not know much about fish and aquarium. So do not make a decision based on their advice alone. You can talk to the staff members at the store and by this you can gain a lot of knowledge about the lifestyle of the fish. However it is most important to look at the fish yourself and then decide accordingly.
You need to follow some points when you are buying a fish for the aquarium. 1. Size of the fish: always ask about the size of the fish. Ask as to how big it will grow later on. It may become too big and this may cause trouble to other fishes in the tank. 2. Territorial nature of the fish: ask whether it's territorial or likes to be in group. 3. Correct food: ask yourself, will you be able to supply the required and the correct food for the fish? 4. Check the water condition of your tank. 5. The tank's temperature should be ideal for the fish. Don't go for fishes that are incompatible with each other. They may look attractive but there's no point buying them if they can't survive with the other species of your aquarium. Make sure that the fish you are buying is healthy. There may be a number of fishes available. Don't rush into things. Take time and then decide the fish which you want to buy. Don't add too many fish to your aquarium at a time. After all you can have a successful aquarium only when your fish is happy and stress free!
